GOÊTeia

Explorations
in Chthonic Sorcercy

Welcome to Goêteia

Goêteia.com is a website designed to introduce you to the practice of chthonic sorcery. It was launched in the spring of 2023 on the occasion of the publication of the book Goêtic Atavisms by Craig Slee, Frater Acher, with illustrations by José Gabriel Alegría Sabogal and a foreword by Frater U∴D∴. Here, the authors have gathered additional material that they have explored, recorded, and suffered on their own goêtic forays. These resources explain what this form of ancient magic is about and how best to be touched or even devoured by it.

  • Goêteia, as we present it here, is not a derivation from the Lesser Key of Solomon or the spirits described therein. The name goêteia was chosen in reference to the Ancient Greek necromantic funeral rites and sorcerers who operated outside the official cults. The practice presented is neither a left-hand nor a right-hand path, it neither excludes nor prescribes classical rituals. Rather, it is about the experience of being woven internally and externally into a living fabric of presences.

This fabric encompasses all realms of creation, celestial and chthonic, life and death, waking and dreaming. When we recognize ourselves in it, there are no longer barriers or thresholds between everyday life and magical practice. Thus, goêtic practice is primarily concerned with the ever-changing relationships in whose web we experience ourselves, the spirits and the world.
