OLYMPIC SPIRITS Preorder
I am thrilled to announce that THE OLYMPIC SPIRITS - Paracelsus’ Practice of the Inner Stars is now open for pre-order by Three Hands Press.
We have put so much hard work, study, practice, and artistic collaboration into this publication. Three Hands Press has gone the extra mile in terms of attention to detail, presentation, and bringing together my writing and Joseph Uccello’s art into this talismanic conspiracy. We even have an announcement video!
Joseph and I have been ardent admirers and practitioners of the work of Paracelsus for decades. Our first discussion resulted in a bounty of observations and ideas for the physical manifestation of this long-term project. After this catalytic discussion, I gave him free rein with the illustration and accompanying art. In addition, Daniel Schulke, director of Three Hands Press, and an important author in his own right, has long demonstrated homage and resonance with Paracelsian Natural Magic, and has worked to give a broader exposure to his work in occult publications.
I am excited for you all to see where it has led us and join in this wonderful exploration of the most radically innovative magical practitioner in the West in the last 500 years.
This book can help us make a big step forward in extracting magic from the web of modern psychology that has enveloped so much of it since the 19th century. Such an offer promises the release of lived magic from our cognitive minds and its return to our carnal bodies, including our daemonic entanglement with the worlds within and around us.
Sadly, animistic magic in the West since the 15th century seems virtually untraceable. With this book I have tried to renew the connections to it and make Paracelsus’ grandiose concept of a genuinely animistic Western cosmology accessible again. The book invites us to carefully retrace the history of the origins of the Olympic Spirits as well as establish multifaceted perspectives for personal practice with them.
On a personal note, I was extremely pleased when I realized that this text would also allow me to resume work on the “white grimoire” of the West, the ARBATEL. The reconstruction of the Seal of Secrets and its practical application have been a particular joy, and I have waited a long time to share these with you. Perhaps my only greater surprise was the discovery of the elaborately long, Latin chapter in Robert Fludd's work, which seemed to have gone completely unrecognized until now. It was actually here that Fludd forged the chain between the Holy Daimon, the Olympic Spirits and classical theurgia, through which the 'Olympics' seem to have migrated into modern Solomonic magic... Naturally, the full chapter is included in its first English translation in the Appendix.
I hope you all enjoy reading this book, and that it will inspire both your own practice and further research on the subject.
Now, if you wanted to use the time between now and March to prepare for the Olympics, you can take a look at my other Paracelsus-inspired writings. They all orbit around this book like asteroids, capturing its light, dust trails and atmosphere from different angles - and carrying it off in new directions.
INGENIUM: Probably the most personal and mystical introduction to Paracelsian magic I have ever written. If you don't know much about Paracelsus or want a real practical primer, it's best to start your journey here.
HOLY HERETICS: Contains in its second part the drumbeat of a Paracelsian ritual. Here is a core ritual of the Olympic spirits that is well worth reading or - if you dare - even performing
TRUTMEZZER: Leads us deeper into Paracelsian magic using the example of the magic little blade, the witch knife.
MUTABOR: Carries the Paracelsian-animistic worldview forward into our present through the burning glass of our fleshly, daemonically enlivened bodies.
ENTERING PARACELSUS TREASURE HOUSE OF INSULTS: Gets us close up to the person of Paracelsus, revitalizing like a gentle slap in the face and punch to the stomach. A cheerful read in the darkest of seasons.
